Jeanne: Who’s a good boy? Apparently it’s not Bull (voiced by Adam Devine). Ever since his family who lives in a lovely brownstone in Chicago adopted him and brought him home, he’s been a one-dog wrecking crew. And he is particularly fond of Nana’s leg, which he humps with complete abandon. He still has his balls, that is, until he learns that his family plans to have him FIXED.

Director Genndy Tartakovsky, who wrote the R-rated screenplay with Jon Vitti, has given adults the raunchy animated canine comedy they may not have known they needed. Bull and his pals, Rocco (voiced by Idris Elba), Fetch (voiced by Fred Armisen) and Lucky (voiced by Bobby Moynihan) decide Bull needs a wild night of sex and partying before he’s off to be neutered the next day.

The debauchery that unfolds may shock some viewers, but the shenanigans these doggos get into are hilarious. Lucky, a Chihuahua, hits it off with the Doberman bouncer, Frankie (voiced by River Gallo), at a canine sex club in one of the rougher neighborhoods of Chicago. In the meantime, Rocco and Fetch are trying to get poor Bull laid before he loses those low-hanging balls, which he has named Old Spice and Napoleon during a weed-induced stupor.

Bull had kind of been saving himself for Honey (voiced by Kathryn Hahn), the Afghan show dog who lives next door. He’s crazy about her, but believes she’s out of his league. Even though they have been best friends since they were pups, he’s convinced she would do better with her obnoxious fellow prize-winning show dog, Sterling (voiced by Beck Bennett). The scene with Sterling trying to impregnate Honey is a doozy!

FIXED is definitely not a film for everyone. And heaven forbid, DO NOT think this is for the kiddies because it’s animated, unless you want to use it as a sex-ed tutorial (just kidding). But Tartakovsky and Vitti do manage to add some grown-up emotional scenes in their zeal to entertain. It’s a hoot!

Opinion: See It Now!

David: The first rule about FIXED, the new film from Sony Pictures Animation is --- do NOT let your kids see it! It would be wildly inappropriate. This is Sony Animation’s first ever R-rated movie – and it is a well-deserved rating.

The first word that comes to mind is bawdy. Early on, a family adopts a puppy named Bull. Fast forward two years later and Bull is humping Nana’s leg with the accompanying sound effects you might expect to hear from a married couple’s bedroom.

Yes, Bull (Adam Devine) has needs and that’s the premise. The family decides he must be neutered. And he is extremely proud of his balls which dangle ever so obviously from his backside. Bull’s main query to his friends and his true love, Honey (Kathryn Hahn), who lives next door, are “Why do they have to do this?”

The film abounds with terms like douche, douchebag, plentiful F-bombs of all varieties, and so on. FIXED is kind of like watching pornography for animals --- yes, cats are here too.

While there have been a plethora of R-rated animated movies before, FIXED stands a decent chance of becoming a classic. First, it sports a great voice cast, in addition to Devine and Hahn; Idris Elba, Beck Bennett, Fred Armisen, Bobby Moynihan and River Gallo. Secondly, it is consistently funny and interesting. So --- watch it with adults and have a ball! (pun intended)
