JEANNE’S REVIEW

After watching director James Fox’s eye-opening documentary, THE PHENOMENON, I am once again shocked --- I know I shouldn’t

be --- by how much the United States government covers up/lies to the American people. For well over 70 years, we have been led to believe that the multitude of incidents involving UFOs --- now considered UAP (Unidentified Aerial Phenomenon) --- were the result of people’s overactive imaginations. Now we know that is not the case.

The infamous “crash” of a UFO in Roswell, New Mexico in 1947 stoked a great deal of controversy regarding the existence of such aircraft. Treating it as nothing more than an incident involving a weather balloon, the powers-that-be in the government, particularly The Pentagon, knew otherwise. Many credible witnesses, including NASA Astronauts, had come forward over the years with detailed accounts of their sightings.

Many were explained away easily, but a few were truly too real to be discounted. One particular sighting was captured in photos by a farmer and his wife. Despite Herculean efforts by the military to explain it otherwise, it remains one of the most important reveals to this day.

Narrated by Peter Coyote, THE PHENOMENON boasts interviews with many top government officials, including President Clinton, Senator Harry Reid, John Podesta, Governor Bill Richardson, former Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Intelligence Christopher Mellon and Dr. Jacques Vallee, a renowned scientist featured as a character in Steven Spielberg’s CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE THIRD KIND. It’s staggering to listen to these high-ranking officials discuss UAPs with such frankness, especially since the aliens have been checking out military installments for decades.

Fox has done an amazing job. THE PHENOMENON is riveting --- and frightening. With all that is going on right now as the election looms, it’s difficult to even consider one more danger to our existence. But THE PHENOMENON lays out a solid case for the existence of this other-worldly presence. It’s unnerving to say the least.

DAVID’S REVIEW

Humankind’s fascination with the possibility that some form of life exists beyond Planet Earth has been around a long time. The Roswell UFO incident of 1947 wherein an unidentified flying object may have crash landed near this New Mexico town is likely the most famous of the controversies. This and presumed actual sightings of alien spaceships are featured in the new documentary THE PHENOMENON.

While this doc is new, its director, James Fox, has long been involved with UFO’s dating back to 1997 when he produced the TV doc “UFO’s: 50 Years of Denial?”. Fox also co-directed another TV doc called “Out of the Blue” in 2003 and an in-theater film entitled I KNOW WHAT I SAW in 2014.

For his latest effort, Fox enlisted actor Peter Coyote as his narrator, thus reprising Coyote’s similar role in “Out of the Blue”.

Fox’s film chronicles the long history of government cover-ups juxtaposed with eyewitness claims. Evidentiary photo/video proofs of flying saucers and apparent other-worldly space ships that travel at breakneck speeds while often making insanely acute turns in the sky are documented.

One photo even claims to show a group of aliens standing atop a UFO waving back to people on Earth. Australian adults who say they were witness to UFOs as children are interviewed over 50 years later and their collective memories are remarkably similar. The film offers the argument  “why would these people lie?”

Fox closes his doc with a current group of school kids being interviewed by a Harvard psychologist, and again these children share remarkably similar recollections of what they witnessed. THE PHENOMENON tends to run a bit long, often repeating itself. But the movie provides ample evidence of proof that we are definitely NOT alone.
